  4. Abundance in the Earths curst (cryst includes air, water, land)

  • Use (how element is used).

  1. Up to 2% of Arsenic is used in lead alloys for lead shorts and bullets.

  2. Aresenic is also used for taxonomic sample preservation.

  3. Is also used in optical glass.

  • Fact

  1. Arsenic is a poisonous substance, which is released both from certain human activities and naturally from the Earth's crust.

  • Sources

  1. Sources of arsenic include: contaminated foods (especially seafood), water or medications. Industrial sources are: ore smelting/refining/processing plants, galvanizing, etching and plating processes.

  2. Tailings form or river bottoms near gold mining areas (past or present) may contain arsenic.

  3. Insecticides and fungicides (Na-, K- arsenates, arsenates, also oxides are aommerically available).

  4. Commercial arsenic produsts include: sodium arsenate, calcium arsenate, lead arsenate and "Paris green" (cupric acetoarsenite) a wood preservative.
